Founded in 2007 in a notorious artist loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, FINE & RAW Chocolate began as a passion project by chocolatier Daniel Sklaar. What started as small, handmade batches shared among friends quickly turned into bicycle deliveries to local purveyors of fine food, chocolate so bold and flavour-forward it was instantly addictive. For FINE & RAW Chocolate sustainability begins at the source, with a radically transparent cacao supply chain rooted in quality and direct relationships with cacao farmers. Their cacao is sourced from some of the most ethical and high-quality producers in Belize and Ecuador, working closely with partners who share a deep respect for land and craft. By paying above fair-trade wages, they support farmers in achieving economic independence, allowing them to farm organically and invest in long-term, sustainable land stewardship. With less than 0.5% of cacao beans worldwide currently organic, these long-standing relationships are vital. Through thoughtful, ongoing partnerships, this maker is helping strengthen the future of the organic cacao industry, one carefully sourced bean at a time.
