THE W O V E N STORY

W O V E N began with the vision of wife-and-husband team Genevieve Graham and Julian Carnrite with the founding of W O V E N Architecture and Design in 2017. Shortly after the couple made a life-changing move to Salt Spring Island, Julian took a leap, leaving behind Vancouver’s architecture firms to establish his own studio by the Salish Sea, a move that has blossomed into nearly a decade of creating custom residential homes woven into the stunning landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.

Genevieve’s creative roots run deep in design. She spent two decades in the Vancouver fashion industry as a designer, specializing in hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind, couture pieces. Shortly out of design school she launched her own private label and later co-founded the fashion brand Obakki, where she worked as head designer before returning to her own studio.

Genevieve paused her work in fashion to partner with Julian in launching W O V E N, bringing her curation and design expertise to the interior side of the practice, alongside managing its daily operations.  After nearly nine years of working within the architecture office, and taking time to raise their beautiful daughter, Genevieve felt a familiar pull to create something of her own once again. From that desire, W O V E N Curated Goods was born.

Together, Genevieve and Julian had long dreamed of creating a sister company, a space where their architecture clients could find thoughtfully curated goods for their homes. While the vision of a brick-and-mortar shop remains close to their hearts, finding the right space on their small, remote island has proven challenging.

In the meantime, Genevieve has poured her heart, her lifetime of design experience, and her deep love for craft, interiors, and apothecary- inspired by her aromatherapy studies on the Big Island of Hawai‘i- into this carefully curated online space. W O V E N Curated Goods is a natural extension of their shared philosophy: to live beautifully, intentionally, and in harmony with the world around us.

THE W O V E N ETHOS

W O V E N Curated Goods is a space for the thoughtfully designed, the unique, and the timeless, goods that honor the earth and the hands that craft them. We believe a beautiful life begins with intention, and that the pieces we choose to live with should tell a story, one that feels layered, soulful, and real.

At W O V E N, we don’t believe in boundaries when we curate a space or adorn the body. We move fluidly between art and utility, between cultures and traditions, between the natural and the refined. Every piece in our collection is chosen for its authenticity, for the way it carries craftsmanship, heritage, and quiet purpose.

We believe in enriched, eclectic lives that celebrate individuality and connection. Each object, texture, and form is an invitation to live with meaning. W O V E N is not just a shop, it’s an eclectic space where meaningful objects and mindful living come together.

THE W O V E N COMMITMENT TO OUR EARTH AND ALL WHO CALL HER HOME

At W O V E N, we are deeply committed to the world we share. Small, sustainable, and ethical is the cornerstone of everything we do. The heart of our shop lies with small businesses around the globe, artisans, makers, and producers who share our values and respect for our world.

We choose to work with those who prioritize small-batch production, clean ingredients, sustainable and environmentally conscious materials, and mindful craftsmanship. Every piece we carry reflects these principles- thoughtfully made, ethically sourced, and designed to endure.

At W O V E N, we strive to live with kindness, awareness, and intention. We believe in freedom for all beings, great and small, and stand firmly against all forms of oppression. The products we source uphold the values we live by; compassion, integrity, and respect woven through every thread of daily life.

A decade ago, we left the city for a small, remote island, a slower life where connection to nature shaped our choices. Online shopping wasn’t on our radar, but that soon changed. We found ourselves spending hours researching every brand and product, searching for transparency and accountability. Those long nights of deep diving became the foundation of W O V E N.

We’ve done the work for you, the endless research, the questions, the careful curation, so you can shop with peace of mind. When you choose W O V E N Curated Goods, you’re supporting small businesses that care deeply about protecting our planet, its people, and all living things that call it home.

We hold ourselves to the highest ethical and sustainable standards, based on thorough research and trust in our makers. Still, we know the journey is ongoing. If you ever have questions, concerns, or insights about the brands we carry, we invite you to reach out, this is a shared commitment, and your voice matters to us.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We acknowledge, with deep respect, that we create, live and love on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Hul’q’umi’num and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples. We honour the deeply-rooted relationship these Nations, including the Penelakut, Quw'utsun, Lyackson, Stz'uminus, Halalt, W̱JOȽEȽP, W̱SIḴEM, BOḰEĆEN, SȾÁUTW̱, and MÁLEXEȽ First Nations hold with this land known as Tle’lhum and ĆUÁN. These nations have lived in harmony with the land as stewards, harvesting from its natural abundance and nurturing the land and waters with intention and care since time immemorial.

We recognize that a land acknowledgment is only a beginning, a small gesture within a much greater responsibility. At W O V E N, we seek to move beyond words, supporting the sovereignty and self-determination of the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island and commit  to practices that nurture the land, its waters, and all living beings who call it home.
